Choosing the right commission
I know what I want to express, but not what form it should take. What do I choose?
Describe the recipient, purpose and emotional outcome in the enquiry form. A poem, letter, portrait, reflection essay or longer narrative can be recommended after understanding the material.
Can a service be customised?
Yes, within a clearly agreed scope. Where the requirement falls outside a listed format, a bespoke quotation may be appropriate.
Do you work for individuals as well as organisations?
Yes. Personal commissions and organisational narrative work follow different scopes but share the same interview-led approach.
Can I commission work from outside India?
Yes. Interviews and delivery can take place online, subject to payment and scheduling arrangements.
Can I commission something as a surprise gift?
Yes, provided enough authentic material can be gathered without breaching another person's privacy.
The working process
Interviews, drafts and revisions
Is the interview compulsory?
Most deeply personalised services require a conversation. Some concise pieces can be completed from detailed written material.
How long is an interview?
It depends on the service. A poem or letter may need one focused conversation, while memoir and organisational work may require several sessions.
Can I answer in writing instead of speaking?
Yes, when speaking is difficult or scheduling requires it, although live follow-up often uncovers useful detail.
How many drafts will I receive?
The standard process provides a first draft and one included revision unless the quotation states otherwise.
What counts as a revision?
A revision adjusts factual details, tone, emphasis or selected passages within the agreed form. A new concept, audience or substantially expanded scope is not a revision.
Can you guarantee that I will like every line?
No serious writer can guarantee subjective response. The process reduces mismatch through careful briefing, voice calibration and one revision.
Privacy
Confidentiality and sensitive material
Will my story appear on the website?
No. Private work is not published, quoted or used as a sample without explicit permission.
Are interviews recorded?
Only where useful and with the participant's knowledge. The project scope should state how recordings and notes are handled.
Can I ask for some material to remain off the record?
Yes. Boundaries can be stated before or during the conversation.
Can family members see my drafts?
Only if you authorise them or nominate them as project reviewers.
Do you work with grief, trauma or conflict?
Writing can respectfully hold difficult experience, but RDC Unsaid is not a therapy, legal or crisis service.
Completion
Delivery, language and ownership
Can the work be written in Hindi or English?
Yes. Some commissions can also use a natural Hindi-English blend.
How will I receive the work?
Digital delivery is standard. Designed books, prints or other physical formats are supplied only where included in the service.
Who owns the final writing?
Ownership and usage are defined in the commission agreement. Private personal use and wider commercial publication are not treated as the same scope.
Can I publish the commissioned work under my name?
This depends on the service and agreed authorship terms. Ghostwriting and personal-use commissions require explicit written clarity.
Can you meet a fixed event date?
Where availability permits, the date is confirmed in writing. Early booking is strongly recommended.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancellation and refund treatment depends on the stage reached and work already completed, as set out in the agreed terms.
