Membership & Submission Terms

1. Who may submit

You must have a member account and be legally able to accept these terms. If you are under eighteen, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has permitted you to use the service and publish the submission.

Your screen name is the public byline. You may use a pen name, but you may not impersonate another writer, public figure or contributor.

Membership and publication do not create employment, partnership, representation, agency, exclusivity or an obligation for RDC Unsaid to pay, promote or commission you.

2. Copyright and publication licence

You retain copyright and other rights you lawfully hold in your submission.

When you publish, you grant RDC Unsaid a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:

• Host, store, reproduce and display the submission on RDC Unsaid;
• Format it for readability, accessibility, search, previews and different screen sizes;
• Place or move it within the relevant form archive and themed collections;
• Display your chosen writing name and contributor profile beside it;
• Create short excerpts, thumbnails and links to promote the public archive through RDC Unsaid's own channels;
• Retain secure backups and limited evidence records needed for security, disputes and legal compliance.

The licence does not permit RDC Unsaid to sell the submission, include it in a paid printed anthology, commercially license it to another party, translate or materially adapt it, turn it into merchandise, or use it to train an artificial-intelligence model without your separate written permission.

The licence ends when the submission is removed, except for reasonable backup cycles, records required for disputes or law, and uses already completed with your authorisation.

3. Your originality and rights declaration

Each time you publish, you confirm that:

• The work is your original expression, or you have all permissions needed to publish it;
• It is not copied, lightly rewritten, translated or substantially derived from another writer without permission and attribution;
• It does not contain protected song lyrics, poems, book passages, private letters, messages, photographs or other material beyond what the law permits or the rights holder has authorised;
• It does not knowingly violate copyright, trademark, privacy, confidentiality, publicity, contractual or other rights;
• The title, byline, collection choice and creative-process disclosure are accurate;
• You can provide reasonable supporting information if a credible ownership complaint is made.

Quotations must be limited, necessary, clearly marked and attributed. A source link does not cure copying that otherwise needs permission.

4. Editing, translation and generative AI

Spelling tools, dictionaries, accessibility tools, ordinary grammar assistance and human editing are allowed. Translation assistance is allowed where you review and take responsibility for the final work.

You must disclose meaningful generative-AI assistance. Submissions consisting substantially of machine-generated text are not eligible for immediate publication in the community archive and may be refused or removed. Using a tool does not transfer responsibility to the tool provider.

Do not upload another person's confidential material into an AI service while preparing a submission unless you have permission and understand that service's data practices.

5. Publication, classification and editing

Eligible submissions publish immediately. RDC Unsaid does not routinely review every piece before it appears.

RDC Unsaid may correct obvious display defects, preserve line breaks, standardise metadata, correct a collection mapping, add a content note, or move a submission to a more suitable archive. RDC Unsaid will not materially rewrite the literary text without your permission.

A collection is an editorial shelf, not an endorsement, award or promise of permanent placement. Search engines and social previews may take time to update after a change or removal.

6. Material that may be removed

A submission may be restricted or removed if it:

• Infringes or credibly appears to infringe another person's rights;
• Contains plagiarism, fabricated attribution or impersonation;
• Reveals private, confidential or identifying information without a lawful basis;
• Contains credible threats, targeted harassment, hateful abuse or unlawful incitement;
• Sexualises or exploits a child, contains non-consensual intimate material, or facilitates abuse;
• Contains defamatory factual allegations presented without a responsible basis;
• Promotes fraud, dangerous wrongdoing, spam or malicious links;
• Is substantially machine-generated, repetitive or submitted at a volume that undermines the archive;
• Breaches the Community Standards or applicable law.

Context matters. Difficult subjects, mature themes, grief, sexuality, politics, faith and conflict are not automatically prohibited merely because they may discomfort a reader.

7. Complaints, temporary restriction and repeat infringement

RDC Unsaid may temporarily hide a submission while reviewing a credible copyright, privacy, impersonation or safety complaint. Where appropriate, the contributor will be told the substance of the complaint and invited to provide an explanation or proof.

RDC Unsaid may restore, edit metadata, restrict, recategorise or permanently remove the work. Accounts used for repeated or serious infringement may be suspended or closed.

Knowingly false, abusive or retaliatory reports may also lead to restrictions. The detailed process appears in the Copyright Complaints & Takedown Policy.

8. Your removal request

You may request removal through My Writing or by emailing the account address, title and URL to RDC Unsaid. Reasonable identity verification may be required.

RDC Unsaid aims to remove the public version promptly. Search-engine caches, social previews and third-party shares are outside RDC Unsaid's direct control. Limited records may be retained to protect rights, investigate complaints, maintain security and meet legal obligations.

Closing an account does not automatically resolve an active rights complaint. Published works may be removed or anonymised as requested, subject to those limited retention needs.

9. Responsibility for submissions

You are responsible for your submission and for obtaining the necessary permissions. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to reimburse RDC Unsaid for reasonable losses or costs caused by a proven breach of your originality, rights or lawful-use declarations.

RDC Unsaid does not guarantee readership, search ranking, publication elsewhere, payment, editorial feedback, permanence or a particular response from readers.

10. Changes and governing law

Material changes will be posted with a new version and effective date. A new acceptance may be requested before future submissions. Existing disputes are assessed using the version applicable when the relevant submission was made, together with mandatory law.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Written complaints should first be sent through the published grievance route.
